Murray 3rd, Wiser 5th at New Englands

Cheshire senior Brendan Murray placed third to lead local runners at Saturday’s New England cross country championships in Belfast, Maine.
Murray finished with a time of 15:51.15.
Fairfield Prep’s Drew Thompson won at 15:16.66.
Xavier won the team championship, beating out second-place Staples, 74-103. Cheshire did not compete as a team.
In the girls race, Pomperaug freshman Katherine Wiser led all local runners with a fifth-place finish (17:53.16).
Julia Robitaille of Manchester West (N.H.) won at 17:31.65. Pinkerton (N.H.) won the team title with 163 points. Pomperaug (293) finished 10th.
